Hi,
I bought this beast of a truck by luck browsing craigslist. It's a '91 with a 351 windsor, 4x4, 3" body and 6" suspension lift, A/C works great...for 2 grand!...considered that to be pretty lucky. I plan on giving it to my 16 year old son next year. I parked it last week, got back in it to go somewhere and it would crank but not start. Plenty of gas but no start. Over the past week...this is what I've done..
Checked the bleed valve on gas track and gas ran out...I've checked it since then and got nothing. Checked the timing and it is good. I've changed all of the spark plugs, plug wires,I have fire at all plugs, replaced fuel pump relay, eec relay, fuel filter (which looked to be full of mud..but gas coming out of the lines looked clear. When none of that worked, I dropped the rear tank, pulled the fuel pump and took it up front to the battery and hot wired it. It works, so I put it back in the tank. At this point I bought a haynes manual and started researching on line. through multiple sources I decided to check the hot wire from source to pump..i.e. relay to inertia switch, to tank select, to pump. I had power going into pump relay but not coming our or going into inertia switch. I replaced that section of wire and now when I turn key on, I hear everything clicking under the hood but still no start. scratching my head at this point. Wife and I both work and it's wearing us thin sharing the car...lol Suggestions? |
